The first thing I noticed was how this interview began was with a regular experience the interviewer had with Beyoncé. Specifically, Beyoncé acting like a “real” human. The beginning shared moments of Beyoncé and her struggles with performances as well as her love for pizza and brownies. Then it proceeded with the interview and her childhood. I like how the writing itself didn’t start from the beginning of her life because then, as a reader, I wouldn’t know what she was like now or who she would have eventually become. This snippet at the beginning gave the reader a perspective of where the interview was headed. Throughout the interview, we learn about Beyoncé from day one. From her first dance classes, her talent shows, working with her father, to her first time being on stage. One quote that I think is beautifully written about Beyoncé as a woman is, “Beyoncé-- she of the ‘bootylicious,’ sexy dances—still manages to wear her success well while maintaining a sense of decorum in a world gone absolutely mad. Beyoncé Knowles is very much a lady.” I admire this quote because often times when people think of celebrities, they think of stuck up, inappropriate, and selfish things. This quote captures Beyoncé in a way that flees her away from that stereotype. It shows her manners rather than telling them. It gives Beyoncé a good reputation that many celebrities can’t say that they own.
